About the Project:
The project focused on the removal of textured decorative coatings from the listed structure whilst ensuring that the substrate plasters and ornate cornice were not damaged. The building was a former hotel that was to be refurbished to a very high standard.
In addition to the removal of the textured decorative coatings, we undertook the decontamination of a chapel within the building. This element of the
project included the removal of listed timber panelling. This element required each panel to be carefully removed, cleaned and numbered for reinstallation after completion of the refurbishment works.
Working within a Grade I listed building and with close liaison with English Heritage this central London location presented many logistical challenges had to be faced and managed.
Additionally, a close working relationship with other specialist trade contractors working on the site was imperative together with exacting coordination to ensure that the requirements of English Heritage were met.
