Project details

The project entailed circa 100m of façade retention, supporting the sides and front elevation opposite Buckingham Palace and providing lateral and vertical support to enable demolition and subsequent deepening of the existing footprint to form a lower-level basement.

Provision was also made for coordinated welfare and office cabins within the façade. Further aspects included a basement coordinated sequence to reduce requirements for temporary works, along with crane base designs, protection decks, propping and other temporary works design throughout the demolition enabling phase of works.
