Project details

Since 2018, Derisk have provided Department for Transport-approved security compliance services to both HS1 and their managing agent Mitie TFM with regards to security at Ashford International Station. This includes ensuring compliance with the DfT’s National Railway Security Programme. Derisk also provide services to the wider HS1 portfolio, including the remaining three international stations at St Pancras, Stratford and Ebbsfleet, as well as the HS1 route and car parks.

Scope of works

Our work encompasses security framework process documentation, risk assessment (both official and official-sensitive), assurance observations and provision of meeting chairmanship for both local risk and vulnerability reviews and regional security committees. We also continue to provide an ongoing direct relationship with the DfT with regard to local and national matters as they affect the HS1 portfolio. This is achieved by way of direct communication and ongoing working relationships with the team within the land transport security division.

Project constraints

A key challenge we’ve addressed is ensuring ongoing attendance from the wider non-rail community with regards to the local rail security committees. On a more practical level, undertaking covert assurance observations without initial detection by on-site staff calls for the highest professionalism from our operatives.
